Smelting Process
FUSHUN METAL adopts advanced smelting processes for 616 stainless steel to ensure product quality, with customizable options based on customer requirements:
- Standard process: EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) + LF (Ladle Furnace) + VD (Vacuum Degassing) + AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization) (essential for stainless steel)
- High requirement: EAF+LF+VD+AOD + ESR (Electroslag Remelting) / PESR (Pressurized Electroslag Remelting)
- Ultra-high requirement: VIM (Vacuum Induction Melting) + VAR (Vacuum Arc Remelting) + AOD
We can adjust the smelting process according to your specific application scenarios and quality requirements.

Heat Treatment
- Annealing: Heat to 850-900°C, hold for 2-4 hours, cool slowly in furnace (cooling rate ≤50°C/h) to room temperature
- Quenching: Heat to 1020-1080°C, hold for 1-2 hours (based on size), quench in oil or air cooling
- Tempering: Heat to 650-750°C, hold for 2-4 hours, air cooling to room temperature; double tempering is recommended for large forgings
Surface Treatment & Precision
We provide various surface treatment options for different shapes of 616 stainless steel products, with precise dimensional tolerance control:
- Turned finish (for round bars/flat bars): Surface roughness Ra 1.6-3.2 μm, dimensional tolerance ±0.05mm
- Ground finish (for round bars/wire): Surface roughness Ra 0.4-1.6 μm, dimensional tolerance ±0.01mm
- Milled finish (for flat bars/plates): Surface roughness Ra 1.6-6.3 μm, dimensional tolerance ±0.1mm
- CNC machining (for custom parts): Surface roughness Ra 0.8-3.2 μm, dimensional tolerance ±0.02mm
- Black finish (as-forged/as-rolled): Surface roughness Ra 12.5-25 μm, dimensional tolerance ±1mm (for forgings) / ±0.5mm (for rolled products)
Inspection & Certification
- Pre-production: Raw material inspection (chemical composition verification, surface quality check) - 100% inspection
- In-production: Process parameter monitoring (temperature, time, pressure) + dimensional spot check (10% sampling rate)
- Post-production: Comprehensive inspection - Ultrasonic Testing (UT) per ASTM A609 / EN 10228-3 (100% for forgings ≥50mm diameter), chemical composition analysis (OES/ICP), mechanical property testing (tensile, hardness), metallographic examination, dimensional full inspection
- Certification: We can provide 3.1 certificate (mill test report), 3.2 certificate (independent third-party inspection), and SGS/TUV certified reports upon request
